How to get to Bonaire - Flights
PORTS OF ENTRY: Flamingo International Airport (by air) Kralendijk Port (by Sea) A number of internation carriers serve Bonaire. There are direct flights from Miami (USA) and Amsterdam (Europe). Other gateways to Boniare include a number of cities in the USA, via Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Curacao. American Eagle Offers daily flights starting Jan. 9, 2007 (previously 5 times per week) between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Bonaire using 64 passenger ATR turboprop aircraft. Jet service from Americans’ many North American gateways connect to the San Juan hub for American Eagle service to Bonaire. American Airlines Offers twice daily non-stop jet service between Miami and Curacao, using Boeing 737 aircraft. Convenient connections from Americans’ many North American gateways connect to their Miami hub for service to Curacao. The 18 minute jump between Curacao and Bonaire is currently serviced by 2 carriers. Air Jamaica serves Bonaire every Saturday via their hub in Montego Bay, Jamaica, using an Airbus A321 with 185 seats. Air Jamaica offers connecting flights from a number of cities throughout the U.S. including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Baltimore-BWI, Chicago, New York-JFK, Newark and Philadelphia.. This new flight adds a second non-stop flight from the continental U.S. as Continental Airlines continues with its weekly non-stop flight from its Houston hub. Flight #1898 departs Houston on Fridays at Continental Airlines offers weekly non-stop service to Bonaire from its Houston, Texas hub every Saturday. The flight utilizes a Boeing 737 with 124 seats, departing Houston on Friday night at 11:30p.m. and arriving Saturday morning at 6:15a.m. The return flight will depart Bonaire on Saturday at 8:00a.m, arriving in Houston at 10:50a.m. In addition to the Houston flight, Continental begins weekly non-stop service to Bonaire from its Newark, New Jersey hub starting Dec. 16, with a Sunday arrival and departure. The Boeing 737 will depart Newark on Saturday nights at 11:55pm and arrive Sunday morning in Bonaire at 5:40a.m. The return flight will depart Bonaire on Sunday at 7:00a.m. and arrive Newark at 10:45a.m. Using the extensive Continental and Continental Express network, travelers from all over the world will be able to connect at either hub for travel to Bonaire every week. 11:30 p.m., arriving in Bonaire on Saturdays at 6:15 a.m. The return flight, #1899, departs Bonaire on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m., arriving in Houston at 10:50 a.m. Continental Airlines also uses a Boeing 737 airplane with 124 seats including 12 first class seats. Continental Airlines is the world's sixth largest airline. American Airlines flies direct, non-stop to Curaçao from Miami. Passengers then use Dutch Antilles Express to connect to Bonaire. Flying time between Curaçao and Bonaire is approximately 15-30 minutes. Or, Divi Divi, which flies between Bonaire and Curacao numerous times on a daily basis, can be reached at: +599-9-888-1050. Insel Air will increase its flights between Curaçao and Bonaire to include Fridays, Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. In January, 2007, they plan to begin daily flights, but charters are available until that time. Another routing option is to fly on any of a number of major U.S. and South American carriers to Aruba and then take Dutch Antilles Express from there to Bonaire. Contact Dutch Antilles Express at their new call center, which can be reached at +599-717-0808, and which is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Payment can be made with debit or credit card, with an e-ticket sent by email or fax. Reservations on DAE can also be made by emailing reservations@flydae.com or faxing +599-717-0880. DAE will be launching a new Web site with an online booking capacity. They fly several times daily to Bonaire from both Curaçao and Aruba. From Europe KLM flies direct from Amsterdam to Bonaire every day. The flight continues on to Quito, Equador. Arkefly provides weekly service from Amsterdam to Bonaire during the high season. They utilize aircraft that can accommodate 200-plus passengers. From South America From Ecuador, the same KLM flight returns to Bonaire with a non-stop flight. From Venezuela, Transaven flies from Caracas or Valencia to Bonaire. Charters can be also arranged. From Brazil Varig and Avianca fly from Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to Aruba, which connect with Dutch Antilles Express. Avianca also flies from Bogota to Curacao, from which connections to Bonaire can be made. From Colombia, Avianca has flights from Bogota to Aruba, which connect with DAE to Bonaire through Curacao.
